An H4 headlight bulb has been fitted and the right side cover has been replaced. The bike is finished in red with silver pinstriping and black-and-white Harley-Davidson scripts, and it features a 2.25-gallon peanut-style fuel tank, a low-profile stepped two-up seat, and a side stand. This XLH Sportster is now offered at no reserve with owner’s and service manuals, service and sales records, removed and spare parts, a frame stand, and a New York title in the seller’s name. The wheels, tires, and primary belt were replaced in March 2020, and service in preparation for the sale included flushing the brake fluid, lubricating the clutch cable, changing the oil, and replacing the battery and spark plugs. The bike is finished in red over a black frame and features triple disc brakes and an electric starter. Subsequent work included installing Andrews camshafts, Manley valves, guides, and springs, a Rivera SU-style carburetor, a Dyna electronic ignition module, a Crane coil, a Lockhart oil cooler, an external oil-pressure gauge, Drag Specialties straight-through pipes, an enclosed Katana primary belt drive, a Barnett clutch, a 1980-model sprocket cover and rear brake master cylinder, a chrome 52-tooth rear sprocket, and an H4 headlight bulb. The bike is powered by a 997cc OHV V-twin mated to a four-speed transmission, and it was purchased new by the seller at T&T Harley-Davidson of Procter, Vermont, in July 1979. This 1979 Harley-Davidson Sportster is the model’s Hugger variant which features a low-profile stepped seat, 12.5″ shocks, and wire-spoke wheels measuring 19″ up front and 16″ at the rear.
